The best of CQ in the spotlight at Showcase

The benefits of living, investing and working in Central Queensland were in the spotlight late last week at the State Government’s inaugural Regional Queensland Showcase in Brisbane.

Central Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (CQROC) Chairman and Banana Shire Mayor Ron Carige said the two-day Showcase was attended by regional community leaders who promoted the opportunities Central Queensland offered to those seeking a lifestyle second to none, potential investments in a go-ahead region, or a destination of endless choices to visit.

“It was important that we maximised our exposure at the showcase to promote our people, culture, entertainment, business, education, tourism, industry, modern transport and jobs,” Councillor Carige said.

“CQROC members were among seven regional areas at the event to show Brisbane residents and businesses the many opportunities that exist in our region.

“Our delegation, including Mayors Gail Sellers, Margaret Strelow, Bill Ludwig and Peter Maguire, attended economic and investment themed seminars while the region display showcased the best of our local communities.

“We are very thankful to the local businesses who supported this initiative by the way of sponsorship for activities during the expo. Without them, we would not have attracted the overwhelming number of visitors to our display.”

CQROC, officially formed in January 2014, comprises six councils: Banana Shire Council; Central Highlands Regional Council, Gladstone Regional Council; Livingstone Regional Council, Rockhampton Regional Council and Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council.
